Marilyn Sieling

December 11, 1925 — February 10, 2012

Marilyn was born December 11, 1925, and was the daughter of Emil and Agnes (Carlson) Swanstrom. She grew up and attended school in Lake Park, MN. She continued her education at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where she enjoyed participating in the choir and studied to be a home economics teacher. Following her schooling, Marilyn was united in marriage to Frederick Sieling on September 19, 1947, in Lake Park. The couple made their home in Perham, MN, for a time, and then moved to Lake Park where they resided for many years. This union was blessed with 10 children. Marilyn enjoyed her job as a home economics teacher in Audubon, MN, where she taught for many years. Following her retirement in 1978, Marilyn and Fred moved to Big Cormorant Lake where they enjoyed many wonderful years. During this time, they often hosted neighbors to play whist and to visit. Marilyn had a love for animals, especially her pet dogs. She was also an avid collector of tea pots and their place settings. Marilyn and Fred loved to travel and visited: Jerusalem, Australia, Europe, Hawaii, and Arizona to name a few. Marilyn had a love for music and loved to play the piano and sing. Above all, Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She will be lovingly remembered by 6 sons: Ronald (Mary) Sieling of Brainerd, MN, Glen (Mary) Sieling of Fergus Falls, MN, Bruce (Susie) Sieling of Audubon, MN, John (Julie) Sieling of Detroit Lakes, MN, Dale (Karen) Sieling of Glyndon, MN, & Kevin (Debbie) Sieling of Chandler, AZ; 2 daughters: Diane (Robert) Skistad of Detroit Lakes, MN & Connie (Mike) O'Leary of Fargo, ND; 28 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine Calloway & Maxine Sieling; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; son, Larry and daughter, Karen.
