Marie Neitzke

April 22, 1918 — August 31, 2008

Marie P. Neitzke, 90, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Sunday, August 31 at Emmenuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Mass Of Christian Burial will be 2:30 PM Friday, September 5 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, Fr. Jerry Rogers, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of the mass on Friday at Holy Rosary Church.




Marie Neitzke was born April 22, 1918 in Minneapolis, MN to George and Caroline (Nelson) Paulson. She is a 1937 graduate of Blooming Prairie High School and also a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, MN. Following her education, she worked as a secretary for Federated Insurance Company in Owatonna, MN; Standard Oil Company in Mason City, IA and Shell Oil in Seattle, WA.


Marie was united in marriage to C. P. “Pete” Neitzke August 17, 1944 in Blooming Prairie, MN. They made their home in Miami, FL; Detroit Lakes, MN and Sun City, AZ. Pete died in 1986. Marie was a long time member of the Damian Society, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary and Holy Rosary Christian Mothers. She also was a volunteer for many organizations over the years. Marie’s interests included crafts, golf and playing bridge. Her family was her pride and joy.


Survivors include her children, John and his wife Marie of Grand Rapids, MN, Thomas and his wife JoEllen of Detroit Lakes, MN, Ronald and his wife Jean of Alexandria, VA, Dennis and his wife Susan of Grand Rapids, MN, Mary Gallagher of Brunswick, OH, Julie Neitzke of Roseville, MN; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.





In addition to her husband, Pete, Marie was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister-in-law, a granddaughter and a niece.



Memorials are preferred to Hospice Of The Red River Valley or Holy Rosary Church.
