Joyce L. Quinn, age 87, died Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 10:30 AM in Egelund Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes, MN with Reverend Faith Jensen officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
Joyce Lela Jensen was born March 26, 1921 near Rochert, MN to Clarence and May (Gladen) Jensen. Joyce grew up and received her education at Highland Park District 87 School in Holmesville Township, Becker County. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. After school she worked for three years at St. Mary’s Hospital as a nurse’s aide. Joyce married Ray Quinn of Nebraska. They had two children, Yvonne and Charles. Joyce was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed working with beads and other crafts.
Joyce will be remembered by her sisters, Penny and her husband Bud Barnick of Fort Worth, Texas, Phillis M. Jensen of Hawley, MN and Reverend Faith R. Jensen of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; brother, Verne Jensen and his wife Marian of Santa Barbara, CA; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Yvonne and son Charles; two brothers, Austin Jensen and Wallace Jensen.
Joyce will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Gratitude is expressed to the staff at Sunnyside Care Center for their loving care.
