Helen Shaw

Helen Shaw (81) of Frazee passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Frazee Care Center . She was born near Binford , North Dakota , on June 26, 1928 , the ninth of ten children to Helmer and Alfrida (Susag) Johnson. She was raised on a farm near Binford until the family moved to a farm near Frazee in 1943.





On July 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert Shaw. They owned and operated a dairy farm south of Frazee until 1963 when health issues forced him to choose a different career.





She attended Detroit Lakes Business College , after which they moved to Fergus Falls where she was employed by the Production Credit Association. After that they moved to St. Paul , MN where she worked for the State of Minnesota and then on to Vancouver and Olympia , Washington . She was employed at various jobs in Washington .





After they retired in 1984 they spent their time between a summer lake home near Brainerd and an RV mostly near New Braunfels , Texas .





In 2000 they moved back to a new home in Frazee.





Too soon after they moved back to Frazee, she became a victim of Alzheimer’s Disease and she needed to move to the Frazee Care Center in 2001.





Helen loved to read, travel, knit and spend time with her family and friends.





She is survived by her son, Larry (Judy) of Pillager, MN; two Grandchildren: Tracy (Rick) Wallin of Pequot Lakes, MN and Jim (Danielle) Shaw of Pillager, MN; four Great Grandchildren: Kaylee and Mackenzie Shaw and Logan and Braden Wallin; Five brothers; Johnny of Everett, Washington, Walter (Violet) Johnson of Port Angeles, Washington, Hillard (Joyce) Johnson of Fargo, North Dakota, Levi (Hazel) Johnson of Frazee, and Mencer (Bev) Johnson of Aitkin, Minnesota: One sister; Eleanor Ramsey of Cooperstown, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 6; her sister Nina; two brothers, Arnold and Lester and her parents.
