Gladwin Walker

Gladwin H. Walker, age 74, of rural Frazee, MN, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015, due to complications from surgery at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN with Lee Ingvalson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015, at David-Donehower Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be made at Toad Lake Cemetery in rural Frazee. Gladwin was born September 5, 1941, in Frazee, MN, to Dick and Valaria (Erdman) Walker. He grew up in rural Frazee on the family farm and attended country school in Toad Lake. He graduated from Frazee High School with the class of 1959. Gladwin married Karen Sanaker August 31, 1959 in Frazee. The couple made their home on the family farm where they raised two children: Bryan and Patty. Their life was saddened by the passing of Bryan on February 28, 1994. The family raised beef cattle and later dairy farmed. Gladwin retired from farming due to his declining health. Gladwin served on the Perham Creamery Board a number of years along with the township board. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his passion in life was truly his love of family and friends. He was a kind and giving man, always willing to help anyone in need. He will be missed by many. Gladwin is survived by his wife, Karen Walker of rural Frazee, MN; daughter, Patty Walker of Frazee; 2 sisters: Rose (Arnold) Thompson of Menahga, MN and Shirley Brasel of Perham; sister-in-law, Barbara (Maurice) Gagnier of Detroit Lakes; brother-in-law, Robert (Patty) Sanaker of Oswego, NY; many nieces and nephews; and grand-pets: Embry, Jezz and Miss Kitty. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bryan Walker; and brother-in-law, Gerald Brasel. David-Donehower Funeral Home is assisting the funeral home with funeral arrangements.
