Aloyes Wagner, 86, resident of Moorhead, MN, passed away on October 20, 2010 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fargo, ND.


Mass of Christian Burial for Al will be held Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, rural Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at West Funeral Home in West Fargo, ND. Interment will be held at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Cemetery.


Al was born on August 19, 1924 in Linton, ND, the son of Melchoir and Theresia (Schneider) Wagner. Al had the honor of serving in the United States Army from 1944 to 1947. Following his service, he was united in marriage to Irene Krumm on November 19, 1947. After farming in Linton, Al and family made their home in West Fargo, ND. Years later they moved to Phoenix, AZ; and upon retirement, Al and Irene chose to live on Franklin Lake near Pelican Rapids, MN. In 2005, they moved from the lake to their home in Moorhead. Al’s career was as a heavy diesel mechanic. He worked locally for Muscatell and Wallworks and in the same field while in Phoenix. Everyone knew of Al’s love for tinkering, as in small engine repair, bicycles, and in fact, anything mechanical.


Al is survived by his eight children: Duane (Eileen) Wagner, Richard Wagner, Terry (Erliss) Wagner, and Sue (Wayne) Hoeck, all of Fargo, ND, Dee (Doug) McBride and Cindie (Ken) Levie, both of Phoenix, AZ, Gary (Julie) Wagner of Concord, CA, and Brad (Laura) Wagner of Mancos, CO, as well as 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two sisters: Leona (Ed) Burcham of Mount Airy, NC, and Shirley Grover of Sheridan, WY.


Al was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Irene, four sisters and one brother.
